Peel Away The Years For Younger Looking Skin

If you’re looking for clear, smooth, glowing skin but don’t want anything that involves needles and scalpels, a  chemical peel may be the solution you are looking for. In-office peels continue to lead the way as the most reliable and economical method to deliver fresher, younger-looking skin. From fine lines to coarse wrinkles, dark patches, acne and redness, whatever your skin care concern, there is an exfoliating peel formulated to meet your specific skin care needs. Chemical Peels can also provide an effective way to remove acne scars.

Types of Chemical Peels

Chemical peels

There are many types of chemical peels. Some of which include:

  • Salicylic Acid (beta hydroxy acid) – These peels removes the top layer of dead cells leaving younger skin cells behind. Salicylic acid has anti-inflammatory properties which helps to prevent irritation that may occur after the treatment.
  • Glycolic acid (alpha hydroxy acid) – A glycolic peel is also useful for treating acne and for removing old acne scars.
  • Trichloracetic acid – These are stronger peels. These chemicals penetrate deeper in the skin cells and last longer than 6 weeks.
  • TCA peels – TCA is a chemical that can remove tattoos, age spots as well as acne scars. TCA promotes the formation of collagen and elastin. It is also an effective way to remove age spots.

What to Expect:

Step 1: In-office peels continue to lead the way as the most reliable and economical method to deliver fresher, younger-looking skin. During a peel, the patient’s face is cleansed to remove any excess oils. That lets the peel solution penetrate more efficiently.

Step 2: Next, we apply a customized exfoliating peel. The peel works by breaking the bonds between skin cells, which helps to increase cell turnover for smoother, more radiant skin.

After a few minutes, a neutralizing solution is applied, followed by a cooling post-procedure cream and sunscreen.

Questions About Chemical Peels

Q. Can chemical peels stimulate collagen and elastin production?

Yes. Collagen and elastin are important proteins that are found in skin cells. When skin cells can produce generous amounts of collagen and elastin, then the skin can easily carry out the replacement of old skin cells. Skin that can produce collagen and elastin has the ability to make a sufficient number of skin cells, following removal of old skin cells, due to the action of a chemical peel.

Q. Do chemical peels help with acne and acne scars?

Yes. As we mentioned earlier, acne scars respond well to chemical peels due to the collagen growth induced by the exfoliation solution. They also help improve discoloration and age spotting while providing a general resurfacing of the face. Skin peels are performed on the face, neck or hands by one of our highly experienced RN under the supervision and guidance of Dr. Fisher, our board certified physician.

Q. How many treatments are needed?

Plan to have a series of peel treatments; typically, a series consists of three or four peels spaced at least 10 to 15 days apart. We recommend having two or three series a year for optimum benefits. Now you can peel away the years for smoother, younger-looking skin that mere creams can’t provide.

Q. I am not sure what steps to take next. Do you offer a free consultation?

Yes. If you are thinking about using a chemical peel, we invite you to first visit our office where you can sit down with a member of our medical team to discuss your concerns and goals. Q. Are there treatments that can increase the effectiveness of a chemical peel?

Yes. To increase the effectiveness of a Chemical Peel, Dr. Fisher may recommend that you combine your treatment with a microdermabrasion which removes the top micro-layer of skin. We may also suggest physician grade topical products and creams. Our primary skin treamtent headquarters is located in lower Bucks County and convenient to clients in NE Philadelphia, Lower Moreland and eastern Montgomery County.
